Thought for the day

Dad and I have been reading from the Book of Mormon in Alma, where he was inspired to call another Chief Judge to rule the people so he could spend all his time in his responsibilities as High Priest. The people of Alma had become so prosperous that they had developed a lot of pride in their circumstances and had begun to let their hearts be set on their material things and did not care about the things that were most important. Being commanded by Heavenly Father he began to travel throughout the villages and cities to speak to the people. His remarks in Alma, chapter 5 were specifically to those who were members of the church. We would like to ask each of you to read Alma, Chapter 5. It has so much information in it that is extremely pertinent to us today. Many times we need to be reminded of the things that should be most important in our lives. We are so grateful for the scriptures, these words which have been preserved through all generations for us to have today, to use as a guide in our lives. We know that they are true and if we will follow these teachings that we will have great happiness in our lives and not have the pain and anguish of regret and guilt that comes when we fail to follow the teachings of Christ. We know that God lives, that He knows each one of you and us personally. We are literally His children. He knows your name. He knew you long before we knew you as our children. He wants you to receive all the blessings that are available to you in this life and in the life to come. We love you with all our hearts. We made the sacrifice to make sure that all of you were born in the covenant and we claim the blessings and promises of God connected with that covenant! Let the Spirit be your guide...follow the promptings of the spirit...and the Lord will greatly bless your life
