Sand Blizzard
We went out to Chingeltei for FHE with all the Young Single Adults and had a great time. While we were there, we had what they call here a sand blizzard. That's where the sand is blowing so hard you can hardly see. If you're walking in it, you can't open your mouth or it will be filled with fine sand. Also, you have to walk with one eye closed. The wind was blowing very hard. It finally cleared enough that we could catch a ride home. The visibility was not so good, but we made it fine. We got home and found that we had left a window open in the Living Room. We have a fine layer of sand all over this end of the apartment. The sand here is dark brown. It took a bit of cleaning. But, we're back to normal now. We had a great time. On the way to the building, we saw an old woman and a young child carrying quite a load between them. Dad and Elder Hitchmough went to help her. She was walking up the hill behind the church into the ger district. They took her load of firewood and sawdust and carried it home for her. She lived all the way up the hill and back down into a dead end alley, They said it was a very small lean-to kind of hut. She was 85 years old. She was so grateful. She was Buddhist, but there were two young girls who came out of their hut just as Dad and the other Elder walked up with her. They had been to the church before and recognized the missionaries. Dad was amazed at this older woman's living conditions and her age. This has been an eye opening experience for both of us. We're grateful to be here.
